Labour's London Conference
Every two years, in London, the Labour Party meets to discuss its London Policy and elect its Regional Board. This year's was a bit light weight as our candidate for Mayor will be selected by open primary and for the rest of the politics, we're battening down for the general election in May.
- This consists mainly of tweets from me & bitoclass, who was my local party's delegate and has his own Storify.
- Claude reiterates that Labour MEPs will not vote for TTIP to touch public services in any way and wants that info shared widely #LondonLab14
- Delegate calls for the building of a million council homes over the next five years, to hearty applause. #LondonLab14
- How to fight UKIP? Don't start with them, establish Labour relevance through interests not facts. #LondonLab14
- I attended the Labour MEP's meeting where we discussed their work, UKIP, TTIP and accountability; I put my notes on my blog.
- Well Red0 I attended the lunchtime meeting hosted by three of London's Labour MEPs. They started by saying thank you to the members at the meeting. The meeting was framed as "How to fight UKIP?" The old canard, started by Farage that London is inoculated from UKIP, because we're young, liberal and cosmopolitan, the truth in my mind is that London's multi-culturalism is its UKIP anti-body.
- We got to debate some motions.
- @HarrietHarman at #LondonLab14, the tories attack on human rights & its enforcement infrastructure is an equality & diversity issue.
- Rebecca Packwood gets a Merit award.
