We’re all going on a summer holiday … or maybe not

Will we go abroad for holiday’s this year? Boris, in Hartlepool, says maybe, Shapps says, dig out your passport. We’ll find out on May17th, but it looks as if the Govt will operate a traffic light scheme, requiring returning holiday makers to have a PRC test on return for Green list countries, and 10 day isolation for Amber, and a10 days in an approved hotel stay for Red list countries. Who bears the cost of testing is unclear, who bears the cost of hotel stay is not, it will be bourne by the traveller. I have taken the controls from the another BBC article. So it might be Devon, or Skegness?

Even if we don’t go abroad, are we putting our health in the once struggling NHS track & trace system? …

Sailing in the Ionian

Sailing in the Ionian

I went on a flotilla sailing holiday in the Ionian Sea, and recorded some of what happened on my sun/oracle blog. Actually I wanted to land there and explore, but for various reasons, this didn’t happen, and at least I have an excuse to return.  …

Visiting Berlin

I travelled with the family to Berlin over the bank holiday weekend. I’ve never been there before and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The city is at the social, historical and physical centre of Europe. I’d hoped to avoid much of the history; its a sad tale of totalitarian success and much democratic failure but the Berliners have found ways to celebrate their resistance and successes and its hard to avoid, from the remaining bullet holes in some walls, to the new & rebuilt landmarks of the past and the remnants of the wall, the many T34s and Check Point Charlie. …

Back from My Holidays

I’ve been away to Greece over the last week, I got back over the weekend but I’ve been too busy to write a blog article. We visited Stoupa in the Southern Peloponnese and travelled with Greek Options, who we’ve used three times now and have always looked after us. Sadly we were only there for a week and therefore didn’t leave Stoupa to visit any of the fantastically old sites in travelling distance. We’ll have to go back. …
