Lewisham Labour, defending services and democracy.
Lewisham Council set it's first full year budget since Labour's Landslide election victory last May. It keeps its Manifesto promises, defends critical services and local democracy, against Tory mandated cuts.
- Labour's Budget freezes the Council Tax, keeping its manifesto promises but reduces the expenditure in a number of areas in order to make a legal budget. The cuts are mandated by the Tory Government. Despite this, Labour continues to keep its election promises, a living wage for all staff and suppliers; the first new Council Houses for a generation and increased support for care workers. It set a legal budget to stop the ConDem government appointing Commissioners, as they did for SE London Health Trust. The people of Lewisham know what this means.
