I went with the Savoy. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>I looked at Expedia and getting their is hard in a day, I was thinking of out on a Thursday and back on a Monday. Lufthansa can get me there and back from London City with only one stop and change each way. The take-offs are at reasonable times and so are the landings but it costs around \u00a3850. Advice is that the weekends are more expensive, perhaps I should look at Tuesday or Wednesday to the following Tuesday. At that price of airfare, it would be sensible to stay for longer. &nbsp;An alternative is to fly to and from Gatwick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I booked via Expedia, BA out, and Swiss back and am staying for a week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.google.co.uk\/maps\/d\/embed?mid=1ahwa65rnLJ-5P7vSk8qSUYkRpSI&#038;ehbc=2E312F\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>The man on the seat 61 suggests that it might be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seat61.com\/Greece.htm#Rhodes\">sensible to travel from Athens to Rhodes by boat\/ferry<\/a> and he offers some web links to check fares and timetables. He also has two routes to get to Athens by train but this is a multi-day journey and there is no train route through the Balkans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Once there<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>On Buses, there <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rhodes.gr\/bus-routes\/#:~:text=Use%20%E2%80%9CRhodes%20Public%20Transport%E2%80%9D%2C,get%20information%20about%20public%20transportation.\">used to be an app<\/a>, need to check if it&#8217;s still there, it seems not on first glance. I found <a href=\"https:\/\/theislandofrhodes.com\/buses-on-rhodes\/\">this<\/a>, which describes them as busy and notes that all routes start or stop at the Rhodes Town central bus station. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I went out on the sea to watch the sunset with <a href=\"https:\/\/operaboatrhodes.com\/\">Opera Boat Rhodes<\/a>, and picked up a leaflet from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tripadvisor.co.uk\/Attraction_Review-g635613-d14208989-Reviews-Vikings_Sailing_Tours-Rhodes_Town_Rhodes_Dodecanese_South_Aegean.html\">the Royal Viking Sailing boat<\/a>, whose web site seems to be a bit naffed up, which I didn&#8217;t go out with. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a data-flickr-embed='true' href='https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/davelevy\/albums\/72177720318560683\/' title='Rhodes by DaveLevy, on Flickr'><img src='https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53841014173_7ef2d8e054_b.jpg' width='800' height='600' alt='The lounge at Rhodes Airport'><\/a><script async src='https:\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js' charset='utf-8'><\/script>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">My pictures from the trip<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After my trip to Turkey, I feel that I should visit Rhodes, it may be my next destination or if I can work out how to do it properly an interesting way of arriving at Fethiye.
