{"id":11969,"date":"2025-01-02T22:01:05","date_gmt":"2025-01-02T22:01:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/davelevy.info\/wiki\/?p=11969"},"modified":"2025-01-15T14:00:16","modified_gmt":"2025-01-15T14:00:16","slug":"whats-happening-to-the-uk-eu-parliamentary-partnership-assembly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/davelevy.info\/wiki\/whats-happening-to-the-uk-eu-parliamentary-partnership-assembly\/","title":{"rendered":"What&#8217;s happening to the UK-EU Parliamentary Partnership Assembly"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Does anyone know the status of the appointment of the UK-EU Parliamentary Partnership Assembly?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.europarl.europa.eu\/delegations\/en\/d-uk\/members\">EU delegation<\/a> are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.europarl.europa.eu\/delegations\/en\/d-uk\/home\">meeting later this month<\/a>, but the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.parliament.uk\/mps-lords-and-offices\/offices\/uk-parliamentary-assemblies\/ppa-uk-delegation\/\">UK Parliament page<\/a> seems to be posted prior to the election. This implies to me that the new delegation has not been appointed. The<a href=\"https:\/\/www.parliament.uk\/mps-lords-and-offices\/offices\/uk-parliamentary-assemblies\/ppa-uk-delegation\/\"> Parliament page<\/a>, documents the UK delegation\u2019s Leader as Sir Oliver Heald, who is no longer in Parliament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The EU, says that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.europarl.europa.eu\/delegations\/en\/d-uk\/activities\/calendar\">the meeting, originally scheduled for March 24<\/a> has been postponed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wikipedia <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/EU%E2%80%93UK_Parliamentary_Partnership_Assembly\">claims <\/a>that it is the parliamentary body forseen and required by the Future Trade and Co-operation agreement.  They also state it should meet twice a year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Perhaps I should x-ref the agreement and quote some of <a title=\"The EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement, the Commission's page\" href=\"https:\/\/commission.europa.eu\/strategy-and-policy\/relations-united-kingdom\/eu-uk-trade-and-cooperation-agreement_en#governance\">the treaty text<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>The featured image comes from Unsplash, but is one that the UK Parliament page uses.
