Need to do some research; here are my notes and links<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>Links<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Land_Rover_Freelander\">Wikipedia<\/a>, their Free Lander page<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.driving.co.uk\/car-reviews\/land-rover-freelander-mk1-review-1997-2006\/\">&#8220;Driving, review&#8221;<\/a>, questions reliability and maintenance budgets<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20170226033636\/http:\/\/www.lro.com:80\/features-reviews\/reviews-buyers-guides\/1304\/land-rover-freelander-18-4x4-review\">Review at the Land Rover Owner&#8217;s site<\/a>, a comprehensive piece of advice which repeats Driving&#8217;s advice<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.landyzone.co.uk\/land-rover\/td4-how-many-miles-per-tank-thread.197990\/\">A forum thread at Landyzone on miles\/tank<\/a>, 450 &#8211; 500<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I cam to the conclusion that its reliability reputation and the fact it was discontinued made this a poor choice.<\/p>\n<p>A couple of Videos<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"2004 LAND ROVER FREELANDER TD4 2.0 DIESEL 4X4 SUV VIDEO REVIEW\" width=\"1099\" height=\"618\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lpzVcKgyVQE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Whoever did this loved it, and<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Top gear:Land Rover Freelander 1\" width=\"1099\" height=\"618\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9t4z7N9R5Ew?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Also Damiano Caschili speaks well of it for Top Gear<\/p>\n<p>The problem areas seem to be,<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Ground Clearance, although opinion be divided, not for serious off roading, which we don&#8217;t do but a couple of our tracks are quite rutty<\/li>\n<li>Brakes &amp; ABS, this should be OK it,s 4 wheel drive FFS<\/li>\n<li>Reliability, this is an old design test everything works<\/li>\n<li>One of the seat covers is torn<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>On the other hand<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Rear Door Hinge is on the side<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">ooOOOoo<\/p>\n<p>Image Credit: PD<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am considering buying a Land Rover Freelander 1, late issue with the TD4 engine.
