I am and was impressed with its longevity, I have no idea how long I&#8217;ll keep it on the site; it might be useful to some. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>It seems I have not stated that I acquired <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20200925164054\/http:\/\/www.thecus.com\/product.php?PROD_ID=18\">a THECUS N3200Pro<\/a> a couple of years ago. I have been using it happily since then, but today, my W10 system upgraded to SMB 2 and my connections failed. Here&#8217;s my notes &#8230;.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"240\" height=\"240\" src=\"https:\/\/davelevy.info\/wiki\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/n3200pro.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3592\" srcset=\"https:\/\/davelevy.info\/wiki\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/n3200pro.png 240w, https:\/\/davelevy.info\/wiki\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/n3200pro-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>I upgraded the firmware in the hope that the system would upgrade but it din&#8217;t work. Not only that but the ntp connection which is essential, the box&#8217;s clock is shite, failed. This problem looks to have been a DNS problem so I specified the Hub as a gateway and DNS server and that seems to work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s what MS have to say <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/help\/4034314\/smbv1-is-not-installed-windows-10-and-windows-server-version-1709\">about SMB v1<\/a>, I turned the NAS drive&#8217;s FTP server on and connect using that and <strong>FileZilla<\/strong>. I checked out t<a href=\"https:\/\/wiki.filezilla-project.org\/Command-line_arguments_(Client)\">he command line arguments<\/a>, again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ftp service won&#8217;t allow uploads i.e. writes, I muck around with TLS and non-anonymous login, but eventually decide to install smb v1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I used <a href=\"https:\/\/social.technet.microsoft.com\/Forums\/en-US\/9fd07a6b-62dc-40b0-995c-5a3a5d533150\/how-to-enabledisable-smbv1-in-windows-10?forum=win10itpronetworking\">these instructions<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was still bugged by not solving it using ftp, and so I went to the Thecus site and found these articles<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20190822135141\/http:\/\/thecus.kayako.com:80\/knowledgebase\/article\/View\/186\/0\/faqs-for-ftp\">FAQs for ftps<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Secure FTP (Explicit) encryption &amp; SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>FTP user&#8217;s home<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20170429190611\/http:\/\/thecus.kayako.com:80\/Knowledgebase\/Article\/View\/245\/0\/how_to_map_a_thecus_nas_folder_to_windows-public-nonpublic-acl-samba-os6\">How to map a Thecus NAS folder to Windows: Samba, Windows File Manager, and ACL Public-NonPublic-ACL-SAMBA-OS6<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Network Connections<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Strangely, the cable goes in the WAN port on the NAS box &amp; one of the [yellow] ethernet ports on the BT Home Hub.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/davelevy.info\/wiki\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/bthh-rear.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"190\" src=\"https:\/\/davelevy.info\/wiki\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/bthh-rear.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5233\" srcset=\"https:\/\/davelevy.info\/wiki\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/bthh-rear.png 650w, https:\/\/davelevy.info\/wiki\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/bthh-rear-300x88.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fan Failure<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s been a while since I have had this, so it&#8217;s not surprising.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I think it&#8217;s 1Tb delivered storage, so perhaps buy a disk and attach it to the network via the Pi. (Actually, it&#8217;s 1.81 TB).&nbsp; Is there any RAID software on the PI? Yes! It would seem that LVM is available as part of Raspbian. I plan to continue this thread at &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/davelevy.info\/wiki\/raspberry-pi-and-lvm\/\">Raspberry Pi and LVM<\/a>&#8221; on this wiki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shame Mappins has gone!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Monitoring<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There&#8217;s now a phone app. Thecus Connect, which needs a firmware upgrade to V3.0 or better. They <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thecus.com\/Downloads\/FW\/N3200PRO\/N3200PRO_FWRN_3.00.02.pdf\">recommend a backup<\/a> before doing this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My SW version is 3.00.03, needs to be 3.01.00 or better, it seems that we are on Version 5.
