Version 5<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

So I need to revise my web site at dfl.ddns.net. Introduction is more complex than I need and I have lost the source files. So I look at a themes page, and select the minimal filter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I chose PaperMod <\/a>and install according to their instructions<\/a>, using the git submodule method.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am using an Ubuntu 22 build with Hugo already installed; this generates errors around resolving the language parameter; the answer is to upgrade the Hugo version. It is now recommended that one switches to snap (from apt), so sudo apt-get remove hugo; sudo snap install hugo<\/code> and then run updatedb.<\/code><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    I lost my source tree, and it’s not easy to re-engineer; there’s nothing on google but I tried chatgpt which yielded this reply<\/a>. This points at pandoc<\/a>, and google bard suggests, as alternatives, Google with AI Perspectives<\/a> offers this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Introduction theme<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

      hugo theme: introduction<\/a>, this is the theme I chose to use, which I found in Hugo’s directory, and I mader a wiki page about it, see Hugo: Introduction theme No. 2<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Lessons relearnt<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

      To create a publication candidate, use hugo <\/code>with no parameters unless the -t parameter is needed to force a theme. It creates a folder public<\/em> in the folder containing the config.toml. The target public folder needs to be empty. I run hugo<\/em> from .\/examplesite<\/em>. There is a bug on the 404 page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      I need to run hugo new <\/em>from .\/examplesite<\/em>  specifying the name of the markdown file with a relative path. and reference to the theme folder e.g.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      hugo new ..\/content\/$lang\/blog\/${name}.md -t ..\/..<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Draft needs to be false to be pushed into the local server<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Version 2<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      It seemed easy but wasn’t. I was helped by the getting started page<\/a> again 🤓 My target is a static site on AWS\/S3, but it seems I could use git<\/a>. In fact, I gave up on amazon because they charge extra and complicate the delivery over https.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Version Update<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      I am writing some code, and this is incredibly useful,<\/a> it documents how to find the latest release. I wrote a script https:\/\/github.com\/dfl1955\/ubuntu-tools\/blob\/master\/whathugoversio<\/a>n to perform this role, but at my version three, I was using apt to install it. i.e. my script on github<\/a>, in whathugoversion<\/code>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Social Media Buttons<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      I wanted more and tracked it from ananke<\/code> via git to tachyons<\/code>. The list is limited<\/a> and defined and beyond me to extend. An RSS and Web site icon would be good. Most themes seem to use Tachyons CSS<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Introduction<\/a> uses icons from fontawesome.com<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      On themes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      As at Version 3, I made a site using introduction<\/a>, also boosted here<\/a>, the latter contains instructions on using the git module. I also tried to restore my old version based on ananke<\/a>. , which remains quite old; I may have lost the development tree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      For version 1, I kept to the trial version, ananke<\/a>. For version two I found Harbor<\/a>, Air<\/a> and Greyscale<\/a> these are now still available in git<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Harbor looks cool,<\/a> but its install is not simple, it throws an error; there seems to be a missing template<\/a> somewhere. I found some help<\/a> in using it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      On Hugo Air,  this is rather fab<\/a> because of its header picture, I had a problem<\/a> getting the menu to work. When I rteurned to it in 2022, I made a post exclusively<\/a> for the Air theme,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Greyscale is still going<\/a>, I see why I liked it.  @github<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
