TLDR thye Chinese are dumping, and the Tories don&#8217;t care and stopped the EU increasing the protection for the steel industry<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/labour.org.uk\/press\/emily-thonberry-responds-to-the-governments-u-turn-on-the-removal-of-key-safeguards-against-cheap-steel-imports-and-announcement-of-a-review-of-the-trade-remedies-framework\/\">Thornbury reacts &#8230;<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/7292c0e6-fcec-4cc3-84dd-2dbb93549f20\">Liz trust blinks,<\/a>\u00a0which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/business\/2021\/jul\/01\/uk-steel-industry-welcomes-extension-protectionist-tariffs-china\">the Steel industry welcomes<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Labour pushed for a debate on the matter, in the House of Commons, <a href=\"https:\/\/parliamentlive.tv\/Search?Keywords=steel&amp;Member=&amp;MemberId=&amp;House=Commons&amp;Business=&amp;Start=21%2F06%2F2021&amp;End=21%2F06%2F2021\">this<\/a> is its landing page; I have not yet watched it. Perhaps Hansard will have the terms of the motion, and the results of the vote.<\/p>\n<p>The Tory corruption also impacts on this story, Liberty Steel, nearly went bankrupt earlier this year, jeopardising the jobs and production of the entity.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Liberty Steel&#8217;s major funder, Greensill Capital withdrew putting the company into jeopardy, although <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/business\/2021\/mar\/29\/liberty-steel-to-restart-uk-steelmaking-new-funding-gupta\">it seems to have limped along<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Greensill Capital was <a title=\"Greensill: [German] Watchdog to probe 'potentially criminal' collapse of firm\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/business-57059178\">not so lucky<\/a>, see also, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-politics-56578838\">Greensill: What is the David Cameron lobbying row about?<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/536867f4-2dd3-42a1-9b29-54ed92693635\">Greensill Capital paid Cameron salary of more than $1m a year<\/a>\u00a0at the FT (\u00a3)<\/li>\n<li>Fortunate for Cameron?
