The US, under a democrat, are threatening sanctions. No observers were allowed. (It&#8217;s not good enough to say that the UK is worse, but arguably it is, as we would need to add harassment of lawyers, restriction of rights of assembly and police impunity.)<\/li>\n \t<li>NSC on <a href=\"https:\/\/nicaraguasc.org.uk\/2021\/11\/nicaragua-reality-silenced\/\">peace<\/a> for ordinary people and international press coverage<\/li>\n<\/ol>\nOther links,\n<ol>\n \t<li><a href=\"https:\/\/nicaraguasc.org.uk\/\">Nicaragua Solidarity Campaign<\/a><\/li>\n \t<li><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/track\/6Yn9z0xI6W0ody8RKJe0Zy?si=2804f888582d4e44\">Sandinista by Kris Kristopherson<\/a>, from spotify<\/li>\n<\/ol>\nIn this, on <a href=\"https:\/\/davelevy.info\/wiki\/venezuela\/\">Venezuela<\/a>, I write about the legality of the sanctions levied; the wikipedia article on the Revolution, catalogues the persistent often military interference by the USA.\n\nTruly understanding what&#8217;s going on is hard, both Amnesty and Wikipedia are overly influenced by a US world view and the press are an instrument of US foreign and trade policy.\n\nIn 2023, I had another look, the prime UK campaigning organisation is the <a href=\"https:\/\/nicaraguasc.org.uk\/\">Nicaraguan Solidarity Campaign<\/a>, which says, on its <a href=\"https:\/\/nicaraguasc.org.uk\/about-nsc\/what-we-do\/\">about us<\/a> page, &#8220;The work of our main partner, the Nicaraguan Rural Workers Association (ATC) in supporting\u00a0 sustainable, localised, biodiverse farming practices\u00a0 is exemplary.&#8221; NSC supports the Nicaraguan people, not its government.\n\n<!-- \/wp:post-content --> <!-- wp:paragraph -->\n\nAmnesty International&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amnesty.org\/en\/location\/americas\/central-america-and-the-caribbean\/nicaragua\/report-nicaragua\/\">report on Nicaragua&#8217;s government and its human rights<\/a> is not good, but then neither is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amnesty.org\/en\/location\/europe-and-central-asia\/united-kingdom\/report-united-kingdom\/\">that of the UK.<\/a>\n\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nicaragua has come to my attention.
