{"id":6565,"date":"2022-07-19T13:31:41","date_gmt":"2022-07-19T13:31:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/davelevy.info\/wiki\/?p=6565"},"modified":"2025-04-30T10:25:50","modified_gmt":"2025-04-30T10:25:50","slug":"the-forde-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/davelevy.info\/wiki\/the-forde-report\/","title":{"rendered":"The Forde Report"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>After the leak of the document entitled \u2018The work of the Labour Party\u2019s Governance and Legal Unit in relation to antisemitism, 2014-2019&#8242;, the Starmer led NEC commissioned an enquiry into the leak. I documented the report in an article <a href=\"https:\/\/davelevy.info\/wiki\/labour-and-that-leak\/\">called Labour and that leak<\/a> on this wiki. As I said then, in July 2022, &nbsp;Labour&#8217;s narrative seems to be, it&#8217;s all over now, Kier has fixed it; I consider this to be nonsense. I revised this page in Apr 2025 to include a detailed mirror archive of my document collection on the report. Also on my blog, I tracked <a href=\"https:\/\/davelevy.info\/tag\/forde-inquiry\/\">the road to the report<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/davelevy.info\/tag\/forde-report\/\">commented on the report<\/a> itself. I am unhappy that they are so <a href=\"https:\/\/davelevy.info\/labour-me-and-the-forde-report-i\/\">weak on the criticising the proscription process<\/a> as a platform for continued factionalism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>The page now consists of an archive index and a list of URLs that I assembled to help write my articles and form my views. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><a href=\".\/#archives\">Archives <\/a>| <a href=\".\/#contcomments\">Contemporaneous Comments<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In early January, synonymously with Liz Truss re-igniting the issue of Corbyn&#8217;s suspension the Forde Report was taken down from Labour\u2019s web site and there is\/was no copy on the wayback machine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<a name=\"archives\"><\/a>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">My Archives<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>I made <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1pkGY0WcjMB8ZVSu9U_ufudb71Ww0nZaF\/view?usp=share_link\">a mirror<\/a>! It was released during the morning and this is what we have at lunch time today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/politics\/2022\/jul\/19\/forde-report-labour-racism-sexism-bullying-claims\">What is the Forde report on the Labour party \u2013 and why has it taken so long?<\/a> at the Guardian, subtitled,Legal action among setbacks slowing publication of inquiry into bullying, racism and sexism, actually the slowdown was caused by a desire not pollute possible criminal investigations by the ICO.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/politics\/2022\/jul\/19\/antisemitism-factional-weapon-labour-party-forde-report-finds\">Report commissioned by Keir Starmer highlights \u2018toxicity on both sides\u2019 under Jeremy Corbyn<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AyoCaesar\/status\/1549358676737200129\">Ash Sarker on Twitter<\/a>, &#8220;The findings of the Forde report are astonishing \u2013 and vindicate those who tried to blow the whistle on discriminatory practices, and factional weaponisation of antisemitism, by senior Labour staff hostile to Corbyn.&#8221; and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AaronBastani\/status\/1549364933736992769?t=Dl0nOuAc1EXQVHr7RRMeUw&amp;s=08\">Aaron Bastani<\/a>, who is obviously working through it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/skwawkbox.org\/2022\/07\/19\/lnec-finally-to-see-whats-left-of-forde-report-first-indications-are-that-it-both-sides-what-happened\/\">NEC finally to see what\u2019s left of Forde report&#8230;.. <\/a>from Skwawkbox, his previous&nbsp; and also at <a href=\"https:\/\/skwawkbox.org\/tag\/forde-report\/\">https:\/\/skwawkbox.org\/tag\/forde-report\/<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Labour Muslim Network select <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LabourMuslims\/status\/1549423964266676224?s=20&amp;t=56MKp6s6oqS_Y8FsBatlXg\">their highlights, on twitter<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/threadreaderapp.com\/thread\/1549423964266676224.html\">unrolled<\/a> and on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.labourmuslims.org\/post\/lmn-briefing-forde-report\">their web site.<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>JVL&#8217;s<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jewishvoiceforlabour.org.uk\/article\/the-forde-report-some-initial-thoughts\/\"> 1st thoughts<\/a>, which also contains a bibliography.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The BBC Report, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-politics-62226042\">https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-politics-62226042<\/a>, where they report a Labour spokeperson as saying, &#8220;Keir Starmer is now in control and has made real progress in ridding the party of the destructive factionalism and unacceptable culture that did so much damage previously and contributed to our [general election] defeat in 2019.&#8221; I have to say, I don&#8217;t see it that way.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Jeremy Corbyn <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/100044446298814\/posts\/pfbid022NNs775k328x9s35vA141ocPZEPAiDkNNeB36ab83JVMs2y9hNBhQkeLLMFH7ynVl\/?d=n\">on Facebook<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jeremycorbyn\/status\/1549434158405107717?s=20&amp;t=_Bs7vpGcCq5gYefPE4qlpw\">twitter<\/a>., &#8220;The appalling behaviour that Forde calls out, including the repulsive racism and sexism shown to Diane Abbott and others, should have no place in a progressive party. Toxic factionalism is far from over &#8211; nor are persistent problems of racism and sexism &#8211; and action must be taken, as Forde makes clear.&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/labourhub.org.uk\/2022\/07\/20\/at-last-the-forde-report\/\">Mike Phipps at Labour Hub<\/a>, good pr\u00e9cis, not strong enough on the next steps<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Jess Barnard, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JessicaLBarnard\/status\/1549463450811875333?s=20&amp;t=tjeZe0wzMhAOH6Cd23xLHA\">points<\/a> at a Tribune Magazine article.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Daniel Finn at Jacobin, <a href=\"https:\/\/jacobin.com\/2022\/07\/forde-report-starmer-corbyn-labour-antisemitism\">The Forde Report Has Exposed the Rotten Foundations of Keir Starmer\u2019s Leadership<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Senior Momentum <a href=\"https:\/\/labourlist.org\/2022\/07\/momentum-forde-should-prompt-a-moment-of-reflection-not-triumphalism\/\">officers speak<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Heather Mendick <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/helensclegel\/status\/1549648857742692354?s=20&amp;t=tjeZe0wzMhAOH6Cd23xLHA\">calls out the difference<\/a> in treatment between herself who merely foreshadowed Forde&#8217;s statement that much of the furore around anti-semitism in the Party was factionally motivated. It would also seem that<a href=\"https:\/\/skwawkbox.org\/2022\/07\/18\/hodge-attacks-caa-for-using-antisemitism-as-front-to-attack-starmer-she-is-was-its-patron\/\"> CAAS and the Labour right have fallen out<\/a> with each other.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/commentisfree\/2022\/jul\/20\/forde-report-labour-factionalism\/\">The Forde report does not spell the end of Labour factionalism<\/a>, Elliot Chappel in the Guardian, &#8220;The inescapable conclusion of this report, however, is \u201cjob not done\u201d. Forde identified problems with the complaints process and how the party approaches racism more broadly, and made clear that culture change is fatally undermined by factionalism \u2013 in short, it is not something that can be solved quickly. And, given the reaction to the report, that factionalism does not show signs of subsiding any time soon.&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Phil BC at <a href=\"https:\/\/tribunemag.co.uk\/2022\/07\/labour-party-forde-report-factionalism-right\/\">Tribune, &#8220;The Forde Report\u2019s Villains Now Control the Labour Party&#8221;<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The independent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/voices\/forde-report-jeremy-corbyn-keir-starmer-b2130074.html\">reports<\/a>, &#8220;The Forde report proves that Labour\u2019s sickness is down to its right wing&#8221;.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Labour&#8217;s narrative seems to be, it&#8217;s all over now, Kier has fixed it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Forde\u2019s Comments<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It would seem that Forde himself is not happy with the response to his report and started giving interviews, possibly most importantly at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=EsCiyE7-Gl4\">a Compass event<\/a>. I found the video by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/results?search_query=compass+forde+report\">querying youtube with the string &#8220;compass forde report&#8221;<\/a>. He also spoke to <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/tiODoWurA64\">Al-jazeera<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=COrunFOhWHI\">Novara Media<\/a>.
