{"id":6652,"date":"2022-09-07T15:29:31","date_gmt":"2022-09-07T15:29:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/davelevy.info\/wiki\/?p=6652"},"modified":"2026-04-10T09:12:37","modified_gmt":"2026-04-10T09:12:37","slug":"paris","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/davelevy.info\/wiki\/paris\/","title":{"rendered":"Paris"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>It&#8217;s been a while, but I am planning to return, probably by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurostar.com\/uk-en\">Eurostar<\/a>.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ola<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.france-hotel-guide.com\/en\/paris_gettingaround.php\">the metro, trains, trams and buses<\/a>, passes can be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ratp.fr\/en\/titres-et-tarifs\/paris-visite-travel-pass\">bought online<\/a> or at RATP stations and Gare du Nord, near platforms 7-9 and the international arrivals, as can Carnets, and here&#8217;s the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ratp.fr\/en\/plan-metro\">metro Map<\/a>, &#x1f644; They also do <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ratp.fr\/en\/titres-et-tarifs\/paris-visite-travel-pass\">multi-day passes<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Their pass system seems to be called Navigo, and I now have a navigo card and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iledefrance-mobilites.fr\/en\/tickets-fares\/media\/smartphone\">IDF Mobilities<\/a> app which I need to work out how to use. It may need a french ip address on the phone. I also want to visit the the <a href=\"https:\/\/cafedelindustrieparis.fr\/en\">Cafe d&#8217;Industrie<\/a>, north of Place de Bastille.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.parisinsidersguide.com\/enduring-paris-bistros-in-the-7th-arrondissement.html\">Enduring Paris bistros in the 7th arrondissement<\/a>&nbsp; from Paris Insiders and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eater.com\/2016\/10\/19\/13311756\/paris-11th-arrondissement-cafes-bars\">11th arrondissement<\/a>&nbsp;from eater.com<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Fork <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thefork.co.uk\/restaurants\/paris-c415144#geo_dmn_redirect=20210629AT100\">on food in Paris<\/a>&nbsp;but this is a table booking site<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eating <a href=\"https:\/\/www.viator.com\/en-GB\/Paris-tours\/Dinner-Cruises\/d479-g3-c5640\">on the Seine<\/a>, or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vedettesdeparis.fr\/en\/\">an hour cruise on the Seine<\/a> with time for a glass, or a carafe.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hotels?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hotel-31.com\/\">Hotel 31<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hotelmarceaubastille.com\/\">Marceau Bastille<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hotelparisbastille.com\/en\/\">Hotel Paris Bastille<\/a>. On my return from Venice, I cam to the conclusion that many of the breakfasts were a bit light, and often excluded a cooked breakfast &#8230; so I checked up on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hotel-31.com\/en\/offer\/breakfast.3071.html\">Hotel 31&#8217;s breakfast<\/a> as that of the Marceau Bastille is very good. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">My Plan<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Walk along the Seine or possible visit the Orangerie<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Left Bank walk back to the hotel, see the Notre Dame and the left bank museums<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.musee-orsay.fr\/en\">Musee d&#8217;Orsai<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20240203060234\/https:\/\/www.musee-armee.fr\/en\/english-version.html\">National Army Museum<\/a>, which charges for entry and or <a href=\"https:\/\/parisjetaime.com\/eng\/culture\/assemblee-nationale-palais-bourbon-p1054\">the National Assembly<\/a>, this needs to be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billetweb.fr\/visiter-lassemblee-nationale\">booked and they advertise time slots up to nine weeks<\/a> in advance, but is only offering tickets on weekday evenings. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sacre Coeur, by public transport, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.notredamedeparis.fr\/en\/visit\/reservation\/\">entry can be booked<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Another Art Gallery<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Things to do<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Check out the Rough Guide&#8217;s top 20, includes the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.parisinfo.com\/transport\/73137\/Pont-Neuf\">Pont Neuf<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.parisinfo.com\/paris-museum-monument\/71393\/Jardin-du-Luxembourg\">Jardins de Luxembourg<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musee-rodin.fr\/en\">Mus<b>\u00e9<\/b>e Rodin<\/a>, Left Bank Cafes, Pere Lachaise, and Mus<b>\u00e9<\/b>e Picasso.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trip Adviser, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tripadvisor.co.uk\/Attractions-g187147-Activities-Paris_Ile_de_France.html\">things to do<\/a>, organised by themes, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pocketwanderings.com\/best-things-to-do-in-paris\/\">Things to do<\/a>, by Pocket Wanderings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Geographical Cure has an article on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegeographicalcure.com\/post\/the-impressionism-trail-in-paris\">the impressionism trail in Paris<\/a>, which includes the Musee D&#8217;Orsay, there&#8217;s also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musee-orangerie.fr\/en\">Mus<b>\u00e9<\/b>e de l&#8217;Orangerie<\/a> , on\u00a0 lower floor, Cezanne, Renior, Mattise, Piccasso, Derain and Soutine or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mam.paris.fr\/en\">MAM<\/a> which has a classic, movement orientated view of French modern art.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegeographicalcure.com\/post\/a-tour-of-paris-musee-d-orsay\">tour the Paris&#8217;s Mus<b>\u00e9<\/b>e d&#8217;Orsay<\/a>\u00a0while they themselves describe their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musee-orsay.fr\/en\/collections\">collections<\/a> but perhaps the Orsay&#8217;s greatest claim is its building, an old train station, although <a href=\"https:\/\/www.parisinsidersguide.com\/musee-d-orsay-must-see-paintings.html\">this site\/page suggests 10 must see pictures<\/a>.
