Here are my notes &#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Getting there<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A note on travelling <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visittallinn.ee\/eng\/visitor\/plan\/transport\/arrival\">to and from the Airport<\/a> from the tourist authority and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tallinn-airport.ee\/en\/transport\/leaving-the-airport\/\">https:\/\/www.tallinn-airport.ee\/en\/transport\/leaving-the-airport\/<\/a> from the airport. The airport is not very large, and I arrived far earlier than I needed; I suppose it depends on the size of the queue for security. Don&#8217;t forget that liquids are still prohibited and that my large power bank is only just legal. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At the moment, <a href=\"https:\/\/cibtvisas.co.uk\/destination\/est\/estonia-visa\">no visas required, for leisure but proof of ability to get home<\/a> is, and proof of purpose, what ever that is for leisure but it&#8217;s part of Schengen, and so one&#8217;s passport is checked at the port of entry which was FRA in my case. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">On public transport<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Explaining the ticketing system, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tallinn.ee\/en\/pilet\/ticket-information-tourists\">ticket information for tourists<\/a> which I didn&#8217;t find so useful and explaining the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tallinn.ee\/en\/pilet\/smartcard\">Smartcard<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/rkiosk.ee\/\">https:\/\/rkiosk.ee\/<\/a> in Estonian, a ticket eshop<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I found <a href=\"https:\/\/davelevy.info\/wiki\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/estonian-tickets-scaled.jpg\">this notice<\/a> at the bus\/tram stop. They recommend an app, (which I couldn&#8217;t use) and a web site, <a href=\"https:\/\/tallinn.pilet.ee\/\">https:\/\/tallinn.pilet.ee\/<\/a> with an English translator which allows one to buy a QR code, delivered by email. It seems that <em>a bank card can be used<\/em> too. I wish I had known that before I travelled. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Generally on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visittallinn.ee\/eng\/visitor\/plan\/transport\/public-transport\">public transpor<\/a>t, some advice suggest that Taxi&#8217;s seem a bit of a risk on price. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/bolt.eu\/en\/careers\/about-bolt\/\">Bolt <\/a><\/strong>now seem to operate in Tallinn and also have scooters all over the place. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Money<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Estonia uses the Euro, but I found in Tallinn every one takes Visa, even the buses\/trams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Clothing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>I was there at the end of March and it was cold and forecast to snow on the weekend. I&#8217;d go there again. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Things to do<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Guardian recommends <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/travel\/2017\/mar\/20\/10-best-things-to-do-tallinn-estonia-museums-cafe-art-beer\">10 things to do<\/a> albeit in 2017.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rough guide recommends, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Lahemaa &amp; Vilsandi National Parks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Piusa sand caves<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Kumu art museum<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Saarema, one of Estonia&#8217;s islands<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>P\u00e4rnu beach<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>I made a map, I am sure there&#8217;s lots to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/d\/embed?mid=1vMsU1u281HNZQfMkDQTAu4fytxY2FC4&amp;ehbc=2E312F\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>Having returned, I can extend my where I&#8217;ve been map &#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div><center>\n<br\/>visited 26 states (11.5%)<br\/>Try <a href=\"https:\/\/neptyne.com\">Neptyne, the programmable spreadsheet<\/a>, inserted by the map author\n<\/center><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This is distorted by the fact that the map author no longer portrays Hong Kong as a stand-alone state. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I think I might go there.
