{"id":9526,"date":"2023-11-15T18:40:56","date_gmt":"2023-11-15T18:40:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/davelevy.info\/wiki\/?p=9526"},"modified":"2023-11-17T14:47:30","modified_gmt":"2023-11-17T14:47:30","slug":"money-lies-in-starmers-labour-party","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/davelevy.info\/wiki\/money-lies-in-starmers-labour-party\/","title":{"rendered":"Money &#038; Lies in Starmer&#8217;s Labour Party"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/novaramedia.com\/2023\/11\/14\/the-corruption-behind-starmers-rise-has-finally-been-exposed\/\">Novara Media point me at<\/a> some work, presented in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/article\/keir-starmer-prime-minister-morgan-mcsweeney-investigation-65fnh8zrt\">an article in the Times<\/a> by Gabriel Pogrund and Harry Yorke who track the role of Labour Together and its shady fund raising, Novara say, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>According to the Sunday Times account, between 2017 and 2020 McSweeney failed to declare \u00a3730,000 in donations from a slew of millionaire businessmen, misreported and underreported other payments, and falsely assured supportive MPs that electoral law was being followed.<\/p>\n<cite>Joe Guignan in Novara Media<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>The article turns to the question of lying as a political strategy,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>A massive fraud was perpetrated in the 2020 Labour leadership election. It is now clear that Starmer was a kind of Manchurian Candidate, a sleeper agent for entirely other interests than was made to appear at the time.<\/p>\n<cite>Joe Guignan in Novara Media<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>They also reference Eagleton&#8217;s book, &#8220;The Starmer Project&#8221;, which <a href=\"https:\/\/davelevy.info\/is-there-a-starmer-project\/\">I reviewed<\/a> in May 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Times article, mentions <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electoralcommission.org.uk\/\">an Electoral Commission<\/a> investigation, which declared that Labour Together, while Morgan McSweeny was Company Secretary, was guilty of 20 breaches of election finance law, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>In September 2021, the watchdog delivered its verdict. It said Labour Together\u2019s claims did not amount to a \u201creasonable excuse\u201d. It found the organisation had committed more than 20 breaches of the law involving more than \u00a3700,000 of donations, and issued a fine of \u00a314,250. A spokesman said this was \u201ctowards the high end of [the] scale\u201d and was the largest penalty issued that year bar one.
