Down to Poole in Dorset very early this morning. I have finally got my act together to take the RYA Day Skipper course and spent the day learning to navigate using charts, pencil and paper. The maths reminds me of the boys’ A-Level homework and although despite being geeky enough to look up the cosine rule, drawing scale models of the “triangles of velocity” is probably quicker . 😉

We sailed from Poole to the Folly Inn, on the Isle of Wight and then sailed on to Chichester Harbour. We returned to Portsmouth and from their made a dash back to Poole against the wind, which was fun. We arrived back in Poole very late and discovered that Imran’s Tandoori Takeaway delivers to the Marina. i.e. Cobbs Quay Marina in Hamworthy, Poole.

The weather was very changeable, I wonder what the week will bring. Here’s the route I took…

The map clicks through to the google version. Four nights on the boat, five days on the water, three days in the class room and an exam at the end. Thank you Moonfleet Sailing.

I also made a note on my wiki about the trip and here is my now augmented picture collection.
