Return to Chamonix

This was originally written in 2015, when my works trip returned to Chamonix. Yup, we’re going back to Chamonix, probably staying here., obviously going up in the world; it’s next door to the one we used in 2011. In 2025, I had a look to go under my own steam, to see the snow and sun.

Rome 2 Rio suggests, Fly to Geneva and then catch a bus, by Swiss Tours, which is what I did. Here is the Swiss Tours booking page. Travelling by train is not much cheaper and takes too long and passes through Geneva. I considered Flixbus, or google gemini says, “Several companies run shuttle services, including easyBus.com, Swiss Tours, Alpine Fleet, and FlixBus.” Eventually used Swiss Tours, which was easy. GVA was a mess on arrival.

Is this a good idea?

I no longer have any ski wear, and if I fall over, I won’t be able to get up. So no skiing! 🎿No drag lifts and chair lifts might be a problem.
