Alicante

I looked at traveling through Alicante on the way to Valencia.

There was very little flight flexibility, and the trains from Valencia started late on the Sunday, although an overnight stop might have been fun. Minutes after booking a trip via Barcelona, I had the http://www.flybe.com site pointed out there are three flights a day to Alicante. Maybe next time.

London

London

A city I know well so maybe I should share some stuff with you.

London-w650

The page was probably created as something my US colleagues might refer to, although I never put a “Hotels” linkroll on the page. I was also playing with an ambition to spend a Citybreak in London, I had lived there for many years before moving to Hampshire, and always said to myself that it was great to visit the museums, theatres, concerts and cimemas, but never did. This page was not updated between Feb 2009 and June 2013, although both my google maps and flickr sites were. On this page, I have a google map of my places in the ‘City’ and West End, although it expands to all over the world; it’s my “saved places” map, and I now have a South London & City map which is more up to date.

I also have some links to my old bookmarks and I also point at my public photos on Flickr.

Places

Firstly, a google map, with placemarks for places to eat and things to do. N.B. I rarely stay in a Hotel and so there are non marked.

Links, tags and piccies

I originally tracked pubs, restaurants and other things about London on delicious, but the service has been gone for a long time. I rescued some of them and hold them in an rss file called London-bookmarks.

  • Boris Bikes Map
This is a rather cool mash up. Guerrilla programming is the way to go. Its amzing how these are never produced by the original service provider
  • a charity changing peoles lives through sailing
Based in Deptford, SE London, the Centre is open to everyone and is a place where you can have the opportunity to enjoy the experience of sailing and boating activities on the Thames in the heart of London.
  • Cartoon Museum
On 23rd February 2006 London's first cartoon museum opened to the public. Situated at 35 Little Russell Street, a stone's throw from The British Museum, The Cartoon Museum exhibits the very finest examples of British cartoons, caricature, and comic art from the 18th century to the present day.

    One excellent value hotel chain
  • online - Transport for London
Buy or top up your Oyster card
  • Canary Wharf
Looking for a bar to drink at, although this only does the official malls, and excludes the shops on the colonades and squares
  • Power of Yes | Theatre review | Stage | The Guardian
On at the NT, this is the Guradian's review, on their front apge, not the back.
  • Stirling Ackroyd
They say "Home - Estate Agents in Bankside, Clerkenwell, Hackney and Shoreditch"
  • Residential Estate Agents in Docklands
Their home page, with a good district filter
  • - 1 Lombard Street
Well located and the Restaurant upstairs has a Michelin *.

This wiki now has a London tag.

Installing Laconica

This was published in 2009, the product has been superseded and the version dependent facts are over eight years old. This may not be as useful as it once was; the article talks about installing Laconica on an Ubuntu VM.
