Package management on Windows

Package management on Windows

I have just reset my PC and need to re-install my packages. A package manager with an offline database would be cool, like the MS store, but for those apps not on the store, there needs to be a different answer. Here are my notes.

A persistent world

A persistent world

Can I make and use an NWN virtual world a.k.a. persitant world as a conference feature on one of the cloud providers? It’d be fun. I probably should check client licencing to see if it’s worth it because the client software isn’t small; maybe I could RDP onto it. Anywhere, here are my notes.

WordPress in the Cloud

WordPress in the Cloud

WordPress is famously available at wordpress.com as Software-as-a-Service. What should one do if one comes to the conclusion that this isn’t what you need? The two obvious solutions are one of the cloud providers and I should say I personally use one&one for various reasons.

Auto-translating a web page

Auto-translating a web page

This page was originally set up in 2015 when looking at using REST to invoke web site translations. My original code is still available on the test web site and below but Google & Babelfish have changed their APIs. I decided to refactor the page in 2022. The changes in the google API have been significant and my ambitions of including popular first languages in the UK led me to implement the gtranslate widget in 2022. This post has some use if you want to copy the version 2 code, but I have marked the page as ‘deprecated’.
