In my run through Neverwinter Nights 2, I have come to the Keep, which is the Stronghold for the protagonist. I have never played D&D with a “stronghold” before and this one would seem to have a lot of playing within it. I hope it doesn’t lead to too much of the resource based gamesplay style; but it seems there’s plenty of fetch and carry quests and Kana looks ready to keep me busy. Read More
Here are my notes for the first run through. I am playing a barbarian which I will switch to druid after a time to get the Dire Bear shape shift. I am inspired by Lux the Barbarian from the film, D&D II and the Epic Guilds Berserker build, which I document here. This build may be weaker than optimum in the social skills for the Official Campaign. Also, I am not a fan of crafting and its possible I should have spent more skill points on one of the crafting skills for this run, some tests are against crafting and you might want to make some armour, weapons and magic items. Late research suggests that this is important and effective. I started to play the game in 2015, nine years after its release; the community is now pretty weak and I am unsure how useful it’ll be but it clearly remains a development platform. Read More
When installing NWN2 today, I discovered, it’s best to do so from my GOG copy. The alternative would be to use one of my DVD sources, however the GOG copy comes with the extra games and most importantly the patches downloaded. The patch server has gone and so installing from disk does not work so well, by which I mean the game cannot be patched.
Some mods are best installed before a game starts, see Zhjaeve Unveiled.
This thread at GOG, talks about W10 compatibility mode.
This is a mirror of the Epic Guild page, which it seems has now disappeared. I have added a link to my fan video of a shifter/werebear below/overleaf which was originally posted in my article, Rendering New Age Video, on this wiki.
The URL was http://home.comcast.net/~worldofgreyhawk/builds/data/build275446.html, I suspect that this is the best mirror that survives.

This is now an old game but I need to move on to it, maybe to complete the circle and go back to BG2 in the Aurora engine. Over the summer of 2014, the NWN Vault, the community repository for Neverwinter Nights has just shut, and closed, the seemingly best alternative for user authored content is the new Neverwinter Vault, and this is supplemented by NWN2 at wikia.com. This page talks about character builds. Read More
I use objectdock free on one of my XP systems and have just decided to install NWN2 complete. This meant I needed an icon for program launcher bar; actually it didn’t because the icon the GOG version ships with is fine. In order to prove this to myself I used google to look for some circular icons.
I found a bunch with white backgrounds and in .jpg format. Including this one.
The simplest way to make an icon for my purposes is to use Paint.net and this article at their forums details how to do it. Use the magic wand and edit >> cut, then save it as .png which is good enough for object dock.
Best copy the new .png to the object dock image library.

When checking out the image in order to post it in this article, I discovered that the host site has this as a .png with transparant background anyway, but the research is useful for the future.
Someone’s finally done it, Baldur’s Gate, presumably the original saga, rendered in the NWN2 game engine, known as Baldur’s Gate Reloaded. This was originally pointed out to me by Berliand. This article hosts a video trailer and comments on the acquisition and installation process. Read More
There’s only so many times one can play the official campaigns and after about 4 years I began to look for additional content. Obviously I have the Kingmaker Expansions, but for various reasons I decided to look further. This page is impacted by the bioware hack and also by the collapse/destruction of the original vault. This was replaced by a new vault, https://neverwintervault.org/. Otherwise, here are my notes, which consist of sections Read More
This page is about my attempts to install NWN under WINE on my MAC. I finally got this working in March 2011 and then attempted to ensure that this page focuses on the NWN actions and runes, and that my WINE page deals with installing WINE on the MAC. I returned in 2014, to try and get NWN2 working. The page consists of several sections, my initial work in 2009, and the further work when I tried to install NWN2 after my Mavericks upgrade.
The sucessful install with Winery is documented in the section called Winery 2014. Read More
This snip originally collected some resources aimed at helping people take their characters through to level 40. It was re-written in 2007 in what was an unsuccessful attempt to re-ignite my interest in the game. It failed and I left it alone for a number of years, I had another look when I started NWN2. The links have degraded over time, firstly with bioware hack and so are no longer easily available , but later the Epic Guild site went away too. The Epic Guilds recreated themselves at a new site, http://nwn2db.com.
An almost balanced party, of pure class character, from NWN/UTC
I need to rescue the links below, and what follows is the original content, now at least 7 years old. Dave July 2013Read More
