A module for NWN2, “The shaper of dreams”, a game in six chapters, seeming written in German and translated, or at least the first three chapters have been. Here are my notes. … Read More

I have a new windows laptop and need to bring my NWN2 game forward from the old machine; both are windows 10, although the new one is 64 bit. I wanted to economise the build’s storage space this time and had to overcome what looks like a 32/64 bit pragma problem; here is what I did. Read More
I have written about hacking NWN2 in a couple of places on this wiki. This note gathers them together and documents quick save

I decided to play this. I downloaded it from its home page but the game has been updated. Here are my notes, which talks a bit about version control but also includes some hints. For more, including the play hints, see below/overleaf.

For some reason I looked at the video below/overleaf on Youtube, it’s about D&D character classes and multi-classing and this is my response. Not sure how useful it is as most of the words relate to rules no longer used. I conclude with the words, “in summary, if playing in a balanced party, given the current (v5e) broad choice of initial classes, their enhancement via prestige classes, the nature of the XP scale (it’s no longer exponential), power games should stick to pure classes, and real power players will play human wizards.”

I have been playing this for a while. Not seen a need to make notes until today. I am as ever using the walkthrough at Gamebanshee. Read More
Here are my notes on Elanee, one of the protagonist’s companions in NWN2. This is what the NWN2 wiki has to say. It contains advice on the build, highlighting certain spells and critically feats; as ever it includes a story summary and details, sadly deleted content. Read More

As I have said, I don’t like Crafting in my fantasy fiction; it’s not what I see as heroic, although there are some stories that make something of it, for instance the centre of De Laurentis’ “Conan the Barbarian” is the riddle of steel and weapon forging is a small part of the story, and there’s Griswold, the Blacksmith from Tristram with his pride in the weapons of men. It seems that it’s needed in the NWN2 Official Campaign. The recipes are found in books and the material components are found all over the shop, often by killing monsters. Read More
Grobnar the Bard in NWN2, needs more of an explanation than I gave in my walkthrough. There is little in the story for which he is compulsory but he can add enormous value. Here are some notes I made. Read More
About fighting Tholapsyx, the ancient Red Dragon. We are looking for the Belt of the Ironfist Clan so that we can recruit the Dwarves to the Neverwinter Alliance. This is started at the Iron Fist stronghold where we get more of Khelgar’s backstory; he is a compulsory party companion for the Ironfist caves and Mount Galardrym This post contains spoilers, although not much, since you are unlikely to be looking for this if you found the fight easy; it also has some notes and links and uses some of the same words as in my diary/walkthrough. In the early parts of Act III of NWN2, Zhjaeve, the only cleric you are offered as a party member, seems to be pretty necessary. However, the game software as delivered doesn’t implement armour for her in-game avatar; a mod has been built that this to happen, the default is not. This post records my notes on the mod which also removes her face veil. … Read More
