- Earlier, a government commissioned “Independent Report”, the AI Opportunities Action Plan , signed by Matt Clifford, Chair of https://www.aria.org.uk/, a UK R&D funding agency built to unlock scientific and technological breakthroughs that benefit everyone. Google Gemini says, The “independent AI action plan” you are likely referring to is the UK’s AI Opportunities Action Plan, which was developed by Matt Clifford. This plan recommends building sufficient, secure, and sustainable AI infrastructure, expanding the UK’s sovereign AI compute capacity by 20 times by 2030, and creating AI Growth Zones to accelerate data centre construction. It also calls for investing in AI skills and talent, reforming AI regulation to enable safe and trusted adoption, establishing a National Data Library to increase access to data, and working with regulators to accelerate AI across priority sectors.
