Why is this such a faff? I have bought an HP with USB charging? It comes with a f’ing huge transformer, well not huge I used to have a model railway set. I want to use it with continental plugs; I bought a cheapish 65w USB plug, with a swiss connector i.e. type C which didn’t work from my house hold shaver socket. Bother. How do I fix this?
- The laptop comes with a mains plug, some brick/box which I assume is the electrical converter and a big thick USB cable. Replacing the mains plug which has a trefoil or mickey mouse socket with an HP part is £55 + VAT.
- I bought an adaptor that claims to be 65w and to take 110 – 240v. I used one of the cables in the house using the USB port; no joy. I used both the 110 and 240v outlets. They both work with a phone.
- I bought a 65w rated cable, used the USB port and the PD port, again no joy. This also charges a phone.
How odd? Google is clear that HP Laptops should work with third party cables, and so is the Commission AFIAK?
Here is what Quora says, it should work? Can I measure the output of my adaptor?
What am I doing wrong?
