- moz.com have a beginners-guide-to-seo, which seems quite good, think they are a freemium provider but like many they codify and publish the commonly know stuff. They also have a quick start page.
- Semrush have a guide, which gets to keywords very quickly.
- And finally, for now, SEO Journal’s guide.
- WordPress have a page, as do WPBeginner.
Praxis
It seems part 1 is to ensure that the indexes/search engines can see and crawl you, with wordpress that means installing the right plugins. Then one needs to know what one wants to be found as, create compelling content, and then colonise the keywords.
