Making a world map mirror

Making a world map mirror

I am looking for an old world map on a mirror. I used to have one but they seem both scarce and expensive, although these things often go together. I thought I might have one made. Here are my notes.

About Maps and Data

About Maps and Data

This is an omnibus article on data visualisation using maps. I went back to map visualisation solution in the autumn of 2014. This maps tag retrieves the the articles on this wiki. My current interests is in web hosted maps visualisations and thus in wordpress. I have also found this article, 10 Free Tools For Creating Your Own Maps. A couple of these look very interesting. UMapper and HeatMaps look rather fun. I have also experimented with Tableau Software’s public aka community release.

Testing Interactive World Map

Hmm, there is only one map per dashboard, that’s not so good and it seems based on the Risk Map. It doesn’t seem as flexible as I hoped. It’s called Interactive World Map and is available as a plugin here. The plugin comes from a company Fla-shop and is  an on-ramp to chargeable content. Their sales and marketing page for wordpress is here. It works quite nicely as a sales portal entry point, but doesn’t do what I need.

I question whether this is functional enough to genuinely act as a try-before-buy. It’s a good looking widget though. Haven’t quite got it working on wptouch.

There’s probably the opportunity to rehash the jokes about US political geography, particularly over the widget’s treatment of the Russian Federation and maybe even Turkey.

I wonder if the HTML usermap feature would work with this.

In August 2015, the vendor upgraded the plugin, significantly. The map above is the new one.
