In considering the recommendations of the CoFoE on digitsation, I came to consider how economies innovate and how competitive the EU is in the technology industries. The key programme may be the EU Regional Development Fund. See also their factsheet. Europe seems strong on semi conductor technology, not so much on systems nor OS’s; Brexit hurts it seems and the UK is no longer part off the EU HPC Joint Undertaking. ARM and Cannonical are British companies at the moment.
