Bother. Never as easy as you’d hope.
A bit of mucking around and then i find this, at askubuntu.
Most of the links below install the various libraries needed, but the following command is needed;
sudo dpkg-reconfigure libdvd-pkgVLC is working, not so sure about Videos.
