WAMP

WAMP

I needed to install WAMP on my PC, to support some Amazon developments; I needed a screen interface to my database. Here are some notes and links. I talk about installation, and port conflicts. I might expand the install notes to include advice on mysql security.

Installing NWN2

Installing NWN2

When installing NWN2 today, I discovered, it’s best to do so from my GOG copy. The alternative would be to use one of my DVD sources, however the GOG copy comes with the extra games and most importantly the patches downloaded. The patch server has gone and so installing from disk does not work so well, by which I mean the game cannot be patched.

Some mods are best installed before a game starts, see Zhjaeve Unveiled.

This thread at GOG, talks about W10 compatibility mode.

Nullsoft Scriptable Install System

The Nullsoft Scriptable Install System is an installer tool. I used it for my Perils of Branwen mod

Meta

These notes were written at the time I published my Perils of Branwen mod. It’s been lying around my home network systems for a while and I want to publish it so that others can use it, it is no longer held only on my disk systems, and to say thank you to those who helped me. It was written as a blog, and so the tense construction and chattiness reads oddly four years later. Hope its useful. This was copied accross to this wiki in JUne 2013.

Installing WINE from source

Installing WINE from source

At the backend of 2009, I started experiments with WINE on MacOS. I documented my findings at my WINE page on this site. In March 2010, I returned to the project having been advised to use the Macports installation of WINE, instead of building from source. This page documents how I built from source code, and how I installed winetricks. I have moved some of the comments here, from my WINE page, which I now use to capture my experiments with MacPorts & Porticus.

Snipsnap & Ubuntu

Snipsnap & Ubuntu

I decided to make an install of Snipsnap on my favourite Linux. I am using Ubuntu 9.0. This snip talks about how to, and configuring the rc.d files. It must be pretty useless now, and I have marked it deprecated and is another page that points at my mirror and thus needs to acknowledge that the source is now on github,  https://github.com/thinkberg/snipsnap

NWN Stability

When playing NWN, I have had some serious stability problems while playing using my XP platforms. This article was written in Nov 2008 and is probably pretty redundant.
